Logistics Engineer (San Diego, CA)
Cubic Defense Applications

Description:
Cubic Global Defense has an immediate opening for a permanent Logistics Engineer in its San Diego operations. The successful candidate will perform somewhat complex logistics engineering assignments following designated standards and procedures to perform logistics support analyses, develop technical manuals, and conduct customer training for CDA’s electronic, mechanical, and software products. The individual will make decisions and determinations regarding logistics requirements for CDA products and proposals, as well as interface with CDA design engineers and manufacturing with guidance from senior logistics engineers. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Requirements:
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Upon review of engineering design baseline, provide supportability analysis feedback to design engineering.

• Conduct level of repair analyses to determine which hardware and software is maintenance significant. Of those items determine extent of repair, replacement, or discard and the cost affected.

• Assess system design, drawings, and other source documentation to create an indentured bill of maintenance items.

• Define maintenance database elements/modules to capture the assessment.

• Document analysis results in customer dictated logistic support analysis records according current MIL-STD requirements.

• Conduct training and technical documentation needs assessments in accordance with customer requirements to define individual procedural steps, safety considerations, identify references, identify environment factors for additional assessment, and identify supporting tasks.

• Develop and document training conditions and standards for each identified task step.

• Develop operations and maintenance documentation and training material from the engineering baseline (design specifications, interface documents, acceptance test procedures, drawings and other source material) for each identified skill set.

• Conduct MIL-STD validation/verification activities for customer defined training or technical manuals.

• Conduct customer required operations and maintenance training courses.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Four-year college degree in logistics engineering or other engineering field plus a minimum of two years related experience in maintenance planning or analysis, technical documentation development, instruction, and training development. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to use personal computer software such as spreadsheets and word processing programs. Mental ability to perform analytical work and make determinations and decisions regarding the most cost effective logistics support requirements for engineering designs. Must be able to read engineering drawings, identify concerns and recommendchanges. Ability to perform stand-up/laboratory instruction and documentation validation tasks for extended periods, including dismantling and reassembling hardware. Must be physically able to conduct on-site customer visits and ingress/egress of military vehicles. May be required to travel for extended periods of time to conduct logistics training or support. Day trips to our Tijuana maquiladora will also be required.
